DMA Technology Summer Camps atUniversity of California, Irvine

For students who want a pre-collegiate experience at a college they’re interested in attending or who just want to get away for the summer and explore a new city, we offer you the best of both worlds. Learn on the University of California’s Irvine (UCI) campus, eat in the same dining halls as UCI undergrads, and students ages 12+ can even stay overnight.

We selected UCI not only because of its cutting-edge programs and acclaimed research, but because of its scenic Southern California location; the university is just minutes from the Pacific Ocean. While visiting the campus, see buildings used in such films as Oceans Eleven and Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.

Enjoy the natural scenery of UCI’s Aldrich Park and take a stroll along Ring Mall, the campus’s main pedestrian path. Grab a bite to eat at the UCI Student Center, which boasts two food courts. UCI delivers the ultimate Southern California experience.

Campus Facts

Founded: 1965

Campus Size: 1,500-acre campus located in Southern California’s Orange County. UCI occupies more than 200 buildings.

Local Attractions: Southern California is loaded with great attractions for the entire family, such as nearby Newport and Laguna Beaches, the UCI Arboretum, Disneyland and more. Professional sports during the summer season include Major League Baseball with 2002’s world-series-winning Anaheim Angels.

World-famous Science Labs: UCI is at the forefront of scientific research, and is surrounded by research organizations, such as the Beckman Laser Institute, the Center for Complex Biological Systems, the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, and the W.M. Keck Center for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry.

Famous Alumni: With a healthy reputation for attracting talented faculty, it’s no wonder that UCI alumni have included three Nobel laureates. Two of them are chemists — Frank Sherwood Rowland (1995) and Irwin Rose (2004) — while the third is physicist Frederick Reines (1995), who received the Nobel Prize for discovering the neutrino.

Cool Fact: UCI’s Middle Earth undergraduate housing complex for freshmen is made up of buildings named after places and characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy saga, The Lord of the Rings. Residence halls have names like “Hobbiton,” “Misty Mountain” and “The Shire.”

The University of California, Irvine has achieved a world-class reputation within a relatively short period of time as a serious center of advanced thought. Serving an undergrad population of nearly 28,000 students, UCI continues to expand its offerings.

The school recently added programs in public health, pharmaceutical sciences and nursing science, as well as a new School of Law that graduated its first students in 2012.
