Teen One-Week Camp | Ages 12-17

Build Your Own Internet-Connected Device

This course extends upon knowledge of basic programming and circuitry to teach students to build their own unique projects using the Raspberry Pi and a variety of sensors.

Students will learn the basics of Python, physical computing with the Pi, and how to use the Pi’s internet connectivity to communicate with it remotely. Students will get to take their course materials home with them!

More About This Course

Our Robotics courses teach kids the basics of electrical engineering and programming as they design and build robots and other devices. This course goes beyond building a simple robot and instead works with the Internet of Things. But what is the Internet of Things? It can be easily described as everyday objects having network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data. to design a device that takes input from the real world and connects it to the internet and other devices. Students will take advantage of the Internet of Things by coding in Python while tackling challenges that require creative thinking and elegant design.

The Teen Experience: Since 2002, DMA has been encouraging and inspiring teens to become the next generation of developers, animators, filmmakers, photographers, designers, and engineers. In addition to developing teens’ interests and passions for the latest in new tech, our camps foster personal growth, confidence, and independence; preparing students for life beyond high school and college.

Friday Showcase

At the end of each week, attendees can invite their family and friends to join us for a showcase celebration to share their final projects. Learn more about the fun and exciting activities your child experienced during the week and have an opportunity to meet your child’s instructor. Presentations vary by course topic and instructors will highlight some of the important concepts covered during the week and possible next steps to continue your child’s learning. Arrive early as showcase begins at 3:00 and is typically finished by 4:00.

Get lunch on campus so you don’t have to pack your own. Lunch Plans start at $68/week at select locations.
