Produce Your Own Beats and Music

Learning to make music like the pros with Ableton is easier than it sounds and it sounds incredible! Students will learn all about music production and create their own music while developing audio production skills. This course teaches students the technical and creative skills of electronic music production. Students will learn important music theory that explains what makes an effective melody, why rhythm has a groove, and how mixing can free up space in a mix.

At the beginning of the week, students will learn how to properly use professional music software to record their own musical ideas. Students will learn how to build a song from start to finish, and how to produce a song to sound great. Topics covered include beat production, audio vs. MIDI recordings, wavetable synthesis, creative sampling, mixing and mastering. Throughout the week, students will create original tracks, remixes, mashups and remakes of popular songs using templates designed by our instructors.
