University of Chicago Tech Camps
Since 2009, Digital Media Academy has been offering educational summer camps for kids and teens at the University of Chicago. Each year, hundreds of students attend our tech programs and learn a variety of skills, from producing their own music and building Arduino robots, to coding an app or making their own short films. Our classrooms come equipped with all the tools students need to create and develop the STEM skills they need to excel.
DMA instructors are some of most accomplished that Chicago has to offer and come back each year excited to teach and guide students through hands-on projects. Our tech courses are designed with 21st-century skills in mind – with a focus on teaching creativity, collaboration, and communication. Students will learn to work with their peers while exploring different approaches to problem-solving. Whether you are looking to explore your interests or make new friends, the University of Chicago is the perfect place to learn.

University of Chicago Campus Facts
Founded in 1890, University of Chicago is renown as a scientific research institution, contributing a number of discoveries to nuclear research. Plutonium was first isolated in 1940 at the George Herbert Jones Laboratory. The university also was the first to create an artificial, self-sustained nuclear reaction in 1942 by Enrico Fermi. UC is also known for its economics and sociology research. Nobel laureate Milton Friedman developed “Free Market” economic ideas which became known as “the Chicago school of economics.” UC was also the first US university to have an independent sociology department.
UC has been incredibly influential on its students, many of whom have distinguished themselves as scientific, political, and liberal arts thought leaders. President Barack Obama taught for several years as a lecturer at the UC Law School. Astronomers Carl Sagan and Edwin Hubble (of Hubble Telescope fame) attended UC as students. Writers like Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Philip Roth, Saul Bellow, and Roger Ebert all attended the university, as well as famous journalists Katherine Graham (Washington Post) and columnist David Broder. The University of Chicago is home to the Argonne National Laboratory as well as Fermilab, a particle physics laboratory.
