Taught by instructors with extensive expertise, this field-based experience shares key DSLR photography and editing techniques. Master manual camera settings, then maximize the impact of your art with Adobe® Photoshop® and Lightroom®. You’ll work on exciting and challenging projects to add to your photography portfolio. Week 1: With instructor guidance you’ll learn how to consistently produce superior quality images with a DSLR camera using aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings. You’ll then be introduced to Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
Week 2: This week will focus on mentorship and a deeper dive into the professional world of a photographer. Students will work on challenging real-world projects that professional photographers encounter and leave camp with an impressive and vibrant portfolio.

In our Film + Photography courses, highly qualified instructors work with students to make their creative ideas a reality and capture vibrant digital images and footage. Our Academy for Digital Photography is ideal for students wanting to explore the world of professional DSLR photography, improve their editing skills using industry software, and polish their portfolios to show to friends, family, schools or potential clients.
The Academy Experience
Our Academies are pairings of two complementary courses, designed to accelerate student proficiency and knowledge in each of our course categories. From week one to week two, students take a deeper dive into the topic, expanding upon their new skills and creating more advanced projects and portfolios.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do students need a camera both weeks?
Yes. Due to the hands-on nature of this academy, students will need their own DSLR camera and full-size tripod for the full two weeks. We recommend Canon® cameras. (Visit our retail partner Adorama for a full selection of DSLR cameras.)
