Create a Film From Script to Screen

Video and Film these days involves a lot of post-production work to create the incredible visual experiences we enjoy today. Building on students existing knowledge of the basic principles of filmmaking in this course students hit the ground running, beginning with a rapid short narrative project that they complete during the first day of the course.

Students then learn about title design and basic visual effects or VFX with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects, before launching into their second short film project. Students will learn how to use a green screen effectively. Additionally, students will gain a basic knowledge of sound design for video and film production with Adobe Premiere Pro. Film projects can be in a range of genres including narrative, music video, documentary, feature and more.

Receive up to 12 months of Adobe Creative Cloud by registering today ($600 Value). Students in this course will also receive a Take-Home Slik U8000 Tripod.

About Filmmaking Courses

In our Filmmaking courses students learn the entire production process, from conception and planning in pre-production to editing and mastering in post-production. This Filmmaking and Visual Effects course caters to students who are familiar with the basics of filmmaking and want to shoot more complex short films, including advanced camera controls, audio editing and recording, as well as motion graphics and visual effects. Students will use the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of software and professional Canon cameras while learning the skills they need to create a polished final video. Explore more filmmaking and photography courses.

What type of filmmaking experience is needed for this course?

If you’ve had any experience with storyboarding, scripting or the overall filmmaking process, you may find it more beneficial to take the advanced course. However, if you want to learn the basics or reinforce core concepts and have never experienced formal film-production training, the beginning course is probably a better fit for you.

Are students required to bring any equipment?

No. We provide students with all the production equipment they need to make a movie. Digital Media Academy is partnered with Canon to provide professional high-definition video cameras for all filmmaking camps and courses.

What video footage do students use during the course?

Students shoot their own footage, as well as get material from other resources.

Friday Showcase

At the end of each week, attendees can invite their family and friends to join us for a showcase celebration to share their final projects. Learn more about the fun and exciting activities your child experienced during the week and have an opportunity to meet your child’s instructor. Presentations vary by course topic and instructors will highlight some of the important concepts covered during the week and possible next steps to continue your child’s learning. Arrive early as showcase begins at 3:00 pm and is typically finished by 4:00 pm.



Camp Upgrades

Lunch Plan

Make things easy and get lunch on campus so you don’t have to pack your own. Lunch Plans start at $95/week at select locations.

Overnight Housing

Stay in the dorms and eat on-campus, Sunday through Friday. Overnight Housing starts at $695/week where available.

Extended Day

Our flexible Extended Day option allows families to pick-up students as late as 6:00 PM from Monday to Thursday at all locations.

Weekend Stay

Add Weekend Stay and enjoy extra activities and day trips around the area. Weekend Stay starts at $380/weekend at select locations.
