Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of experience is required for this course?

This course starts at an intermediate level but teaches advanced concepts, so students should already be out of “automatic” mode and have some intermediate photography skills and Photoshop® experience. This course focuses on improving your “manual” photography & skill sets, like ISO settings, aperture, shutter speeds and RAW photo formats.

Do students need to bring their own camera?

Yes. Due to the hands-on nature of this course, and since camera settings vary from camera to camera, learning with your own equipment provides a more personalized experience. Students need a DSLR camera and full-size tripod. DMA recommends Canon® cameras.

I've never used Photoshop® but I'm very comfortable with my DSLR camera. Can I take this course?

Yes. Photoshop® experience is helpful and recommended, but not required. Experience with a DSLR camera and knowing your way around the settings is more important.
