It sits on a gorgeous 240-acre campus right next to one of the Great Lakes, and its neighbor is America’s mighty midwestern metropolis. Can you guess it?

Clever you! You figured out that we were talking about Northwestern University, located in Evanston, Illinois, a scenic suburb of Chicago!

DMA’s 2016 summer season at Northwestern begins on July 4th! See you there!

Since you guessed correctly, you also probably understand that Northwestern is an exciting, dynamic university – and widely heralded in tech circles for its engineering and communication programs.

But here’s something maybe you didn’t know: This summer, Northwestern will be home to even more exciting programs – when Digital Media Academy brings its celebrated tech camps to NU!

DMA will be at Northwestern for six incredible weeks this summer. Our day camps there begin on July 4th (Happy Birthday, America!) and run through August 12th.

With more than 40 different camps being offered at NU, there’s something for every kid and teen (from ages 6 to 17) – no matter what kind of tech you’re into!

DMA has it all – from app development and music production to virtual reality and wearable tech.

Northwestern is a major tech think tank. Just recently, Northwestern scientists have been working on taking 3D printing to a new dimension, by exploring how it can be used with other technologies. The goal? Come up with a 3D printed terahertz gradient-refractive index lens that can produce better imaging.

And then there’s Northwestern’s new learning space dedicated to exploring the intersection between tech and the marketplace: The Garage. The focus at The Garage is on getting students not just using tech but building actual products that can be manufactured and marketed.

The Garage hosts cutting-edge companies that take students behind the scenes of their operations. On July 25, Pree Walia, founder of Preemadonna and inventor of the Nailbot (an amazing nail art robot that prints art on your fingernails via a smartphone app) will be visiting The Garage. Our Made By Girls students in session that week will be attending her presentation and will get the opportunity to speak with her afterwards in a private session about pitching ideas as innovative products.

Suburban Evanston makes a great place to get kids introduced to the college experience.

Let’s face it – summer’s usually a pretty crazy time, with vacations and other fun events. DMA’s camps at Northwestern were designed to fit in perfectly with the busy summer schedules of northeastern Illinois families.

Take our Jr. Adventures courses, for young learners (ages 6 to 8). We offer these day camp courses as either morning or afternoon sessions. So if our 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. camp doesn’t work for your crew, we have the same course offered from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Just take your pick.

That type of convenience makes DMA the perfect choice for families, whether they live in Evanston or Chicago or nearby Arlington Heights, Bolingbrook, Cicero or Waukegan. Even families a bit further out – say, in Aurora, Elgin or Naperville – will find much to like in our day camp programs.

One of the nicest things about our camps at Northwestern is the campus location, alongside Lake Michigan. Evanston is a pleasant Chicago suburb and a great, non-intimidating first taste of collegiate life, in a very controlled setting.

Combine that with the latest in tech, and you’ve got an unbeatable summer tech camp experience.
