Teens: Academy for Game Design Summer Camps

Level and Character Design with Maya, Unreal Game Engine and ZBrush

If you are a serious gamer and interested in a career in game art and design, don’t miss this incredible opportunity! During the course of two exciting and intense weeks at the Academy for Game Design Summer Camp, (day or resident sleepaway camp options), you will build a state-of-the-art 3D environment and one or more stunning characters, all while utilizing industry-standard tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, Zbrush and the Unreal Game Engine. But don’t just take our word for it — these are the same tools used to build blockbuster games like Gears of War and Halo 4, along with countless other popular titles for the Wii, XBox and Sony PlayStation.

Students will be led through the process of modeling and texture mapping a well-conceived gaming environment complete with buildings and other cool elements. Students will then create a custom game character (just like the pros) using Maya or 3ds Max and Zbrush to construct, texture, and rig a realistic character.

Everyone will have the opportunity to load their custom level and character into the Unreal Game Engine and take on their classmates in some epic battles. Students are encouraged to stay in the residential program for a complete immersion experience and some extra opportunities for serious gaming fun.

Academy for Game Design instructors are a combination of university-level faculty and industry professionals. An optional eight units of Stanford Continuing Studies Credit is available for this two-week program wherever it is offered.
