Kids’ Summer Camps & Computer Courses: Learning Environment
Hands-On, Project-Based LearningKids learn best by doing. By weaving up-front instruction and demonstration with hands-on learning, Digital Media Adventures gives your child the tools to create a unique, personal project. From beginner to advanced and everything in between, there’s a place at DMA for your child. Beginners won’t get lost. The advanced won’t be bored. Your child will come home with a project as unique as he or she is – and the confidence to effectively apply his or her new skills. State-Of-The-Art TechnologyEvery student has his or her own state-of-the-art computer available during class time and evening lab time. Students can expect brand-new or recently purchased Macs or PCs, and there is no need to share computers. Our DMA students say it best: “The equipment was top of the line.” In addition, we use only the latest versions of software such as Adobe® Photoshop®, Dreamweaver®, Flash®, and Apple Final Cut Pro®. Kids get excited knowing they’re on the cutting edge, learning the very same tools that are used by Web designers, game creators and Hollywood filmmakers. Energetic CounselorsWe believe people teach people best. We also believe that energetic passionate instructors with several years experience are better equipped to lead your children than college or graduate students. We pay our instructors more than other computer camps do, and it really shows. Knowledgeable college- and graduate-level teaching assistants also will be there to help your child at every step along the way. At Digital Media Academy, it’s not an either/or; you get both engaging teaching and personalized help. Many summer computer camps say they allow kids to learn at their own pace. What that really means is that to maximize attendance, they use curriculum modules designed to accommodate a wide age range of campers. Students get help from instructors in getting started and then get assistance along the way when they get stuck. Kids are left largely to learn on their own. Other computer camps even use online tutorials. We’re not willing to cut corners. When it comes to instruction, at Digital Media Academy you’ll find only the best. One-Week To Four-Week SessionsEach session is one week long. Students can concentrate on one topic in depth, building on their skills day by day. Students can sign up for the same topic for multiple weeks to create an even more in-depth project, or take multiple courses to explore different aspects of digital media to design a multi-layered project.
