Learn Basic Computer Programming with the Award-winning Alice© and get an Introduction to Java™ with Greenfoot

Discover how to create and program video games and develop animations using Alice©, the award-winning graphical programming tool based on Java™. Alice© was developed by the Carnegie Mellon Institute to teach kids basic computer-programming concepts in a simple, straightforward and fun way.

The Alice© object-oriented programming environment enables students to place pre-made objects within a pre-made environment and quickly see how their animations and programs run. This course helps young minds grasp the concepts of programming and offers a basic introduction to programming in a creative and collaborative environment.

Students in this class will also get an introduction to Java™ programming, using the critically acclaimed Greenfoot software. Greenfoot is a simple-to-use IDE (Intergrated Development Environment) for Java™. Developed by the University of Kent, this software provides a simple introduction to the basics of Java™.

Who Should Attend: Adventures in Programming
Ages 10–12 | Beginner – Advanced | No Programming or Game-Development Experience Required

This course is designed for young aspiring programmers or those interested in learning more about video games and the process behind their creation. The experience is also great for kids who love creating things with digital media and want to learn more about programming.

Kids learn the fundamentals of coding syntax and style using Greenfoot in a fun, easy-to-use environment. Greenfoot is visual and interactive, so even though students are writing code, they will be able to see the fruits of their labor immediately.
