For Adults: Maya 2010: Character Modeling & Rigging
3D modeling training with Maya experts
This course covers the construction and setup of characters in Maya. We’ll outline the essential strategies for character and creature modeling, then dive into Maya’s modeling tools. In this phase of the course, participants are exposed to techniques such as subdivision surfaces, edge loops, and UV unwrapping.
Next, we examine concepts of character setup, also known as rigging. The rigging process is somewhat technical, and its goal is to create intuitive controls for character animation. Among the tools we cover are inverse kinematics, smooth skin binding, and simple expressions. At the end of the course, we’ll have a fully-realized character ready for animation.
In addition to being offered as a stand-alone class, this course can also be taken as part of a DMA multi-week series. Please review the complete schedule for the location that you will be attending to see a listing of more advanced and complimentary courses.
