Learn Professional Digital-Filmmaking Techniques for DSLR Cameras

DSLR shooting has become immensely popular in the video-production world and offers many advantages. The image sensors in DSLR cameras are incredibly sophisticated and the resulting images can be stunning. But along with the advantages comes a more complex work flow than traditional camcorders. In this amazing hands-on, project-based course, you’ll experience every phase of filmmaking from pre-production through post-production using DSLR cameras. Learn how to shoot a movie using DSLR cameras, how to optimize DSLR media for editing and color correction, how to record quality audio, and edit your film using Final Cut Pro®. You’ll also learn about media compression for the Web and DVD, all while making your very own short film.

During the production phase of this class you’ll learn how to operate DSLR cameras for: composition, controlling depth of field, getting the most out of low-light situations, adjusting focal length and lens selection, and mastering many other shooting techniques. In post-production you’ll learn how to transcode and optimize video footage to the best format for editing and color correction. Students with a range of experience are welcome and will get individual and personalized professional instruction during the course. A showcase at the end of the week gives students an opportunity to premiere their finished film in the DMA Student Film Festival.
