David J. Perdue began creating robots with LEGO MINDSTORMS technology in 2001 using the venerable Robotics Invention System, and he has since written two books on MINDSTORMS robotics, including Competitive MINDSTORMS: A Complete Guide to Robotic Sumo Using LEGO MINDSTORMS (Apress, 2004) and The Unofficial LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Inventor’s Guide (No Starch Press, 2007). He has received three Special Mention awards for his creations on the official online MINDSTORMS invention gallery, written robotics articles for BrickJournal and Computing Unplugged,and given a robotics presentation at the nationally recognized Texas Book Festival. He also enjoys using LDraw computer-aided design software to develop building instructions for his MINDSTORMS robots. David is an Honors student at Liberty University and is pursuing a B.S. in Management Information Systems. He maintains his website at www.davidjperdue.com.
